Okay, fangirls, if you've got DVRs or Tivos, set them NOW. On November 4th, 2008, from around 9 AM to 5 PM (My time, I'm in a central zone) They are having an ALL-DAY ALTERNATING The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report MARATHON.
Those episodes will lead up to the Indecision 2008 Live Election Special with both of our favorite pundits! (That comes on at 10/9 central.)
So PLEASE, set them to record if you can't make it home on that day! Also, you might want to get some blank VHS tapes so you can save the episodes and special as a memento of this historic event!
I'm also taking this opportunity to plead with you all: GO VOTE.
Don't let the past 8 years repeat itself! I want you all to try to make it to a voting booth if you're of age and registered! I'm definately going this year, and I'm not ashamed to say, Barack Obama has my vote. He is my choice. I want him to win. This is the first presidential election in which I can vote, and what a first to have!
Here is my November 4th plan:
Supplies:
1. Blank VHS Tapes.
2. Snacks and Soda.
3. My political buttons (I'm wearing these all day, and when I go vote, the buttons are: )
a. I'm Blue in a Red State
b. Liberty and Justice for All - Offer not available in some areas. Prices subject to change.
c. I Still Read Books and I Vote!
d. Will Work for Peace
If I don't have to work, I will have full control of the TV, at least while the kids are at school. Once they get home, I will fight them to the death for control of the TV. I just got a new job, I'm now a cashier at a grocery store, I have yet to be phoned with my hours. I really hope I can get out at a good time on election day. (However, the job is so close I can probably vote on the way there, so I'm not worried about that.)
I'm definately going to put all the TDS/TCR episodes and the special on tape and some of the MSNBC news reports too. Even if Obama doesn't win, but I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope he does, I want to remember this. I want to save those tapes for my children and grandchildren and say 'This was my first election. I made history in my own way.' That sounds kinda sentimental, but hey, let me do my thing, okay?
So, there ya go. I hope you all make the most of this day. We won't get another one for four more years! And if I've learned anything from the Bush Administration, the four years will drag on and on and on.
VOTE!

But I'm glad you had a good fangirl attack! I'm glad you won't be at school that day, so you can see it all in it's entirety!
Enjoy! :)
I don't think I'll have enough space on my DVR, lol! I need to stay home that day and have a political party with teh rents. Hmmm....
P.S. I'm reading that fic of yours tonight, if not in the next hour or so.

Well, see if a friend nearby who does have cable will save them for you.
It's gonna be on and off ALL DAY??
I don't have school that day!! YES. Popcorn, Dr. Pepper, Stephen and Jon, methinks, will make for a very good day.
my question is are these going to be old shows, or something new? if it's old, then can't one just reproduce this by going onto their websites? if you don't know that's fine. it's just I'd have to skip some classes to watch this (I have no capacity to record things) and I'm trying to decide if it's worth it.
I wish I could be of more help!
